Nutrition Shih Tzu Dogs Need
Shih Tzu dogs like all other dogs need good nutrition. Many shih dog owners don’t realize that dogs, just like humans, need the best nutritional food they can eat to stay strong and healthy. The diet and nutrition that dogs need is similar to humans. And, when Shih Tzu dogs get sick, they need medicine or natural remedies like we do.
To keep healthy and with a natural weight, Shih Tzu dogs need to have the right proportions of protein, carbohydrates, and fats in their diet. Not watching what you feed your shih will most likely cause your shih to gain weight or be sickly.
One way to make sure your Shih Tzu dog get the nutrients it needs is to use liquid minerals and vitamins. These can be added to your dog’s water or their food. Dogs will quickly eat this food since they know by instinct what food is good for them. Unlike children that reject bad tasting vitamins or minerals, dogs will eat them quickly. You can tell if your dog is getting the required nutrients, since their coats will be thick and shiny.

Here are some dietary recommendations for your Shih Tzu dog.
-
Your dog loves meat, since he is a carnivore. Meat helps build his body and gives him energy to run and jump for long periods.
-
Your dog needs fiber. It is the fiber that helps him digest his food and help his stool to move timely through his colon. This strong movement prevents him from becoming constipated. Fiber can be obtained from the dried, prepared, store food.
-
He needs carbohydrates that will provide sugar and glucose for the blood, which your dog turns into more energy and food for his body cells
When you buy your dog food, check the label to make sure that it has a mixture of protein, carbohydrates and fiber minerals, and vitamins. And, since dogs like human food, probably more than their own dog food, you can give them a treat of your food, but not all of the time. Just make sure you mix in the protein, carbohydrates and fiber. Experiment with vegetables or greens by mixing them into the food you give them, since they need them also.
Now, you can provide vitamin and mineral supplements for your Shih Tzu dog. Buy liquid minerals and vitamins and mix them in with the dog food you give them or with the human food you give them. You can also give them specific nutrients for any illness they might have. For example, if your dog has arthritis, give them flax seed oil or fish oil. The flax seed oil you can add it to his dog food. You can also give him MSM by dissolving the MSM in his drinking water or adding some MSM powder into his food.
Many of the same natural remedies that work on us can be use on your dog. You just have to be creative on how you give it to them. Buy the remedies or nutritional supplements in liquid, power, or extracts. Try make some herb teas and serve it to your Shih Tzu and, if he needs it, he will drink it.
Your Shih Tzu dog needs good nutrition just like we do. So don’t give your dog junk food. This will compromise his health and cause him to gain weight. So if you want to keep your dog healthy and to live his maximum years, mix the type of food you give and don’t over feed. Give him the liquid or powder nutritional supplements and add them to his food. Keep him health and you will have a faithful companion for many years.
